Paphiopedilum Chryssippus: Growing & Culture?
I recently purchased this uncommon, Phaphiopedilum seedling from an Ebay seller. . .I love it! It's very small and will likely be years away from blooming but it does have a tiny new growth coming up and it does have a new leaf peeking out.
Does anyone else have one of these? I would love to learn more about how best to grow them. I've only been able to locate one picture showing what the blooms will look like.
The first picture is my actual plant
And the second is a web photo. . .not sure who to attribute it to.
Edited to add: The leaves are very glossy and have sort of a waxy appearance. No mayo on these leaves, just so you know. lol Even though the leaves are very soft and pliable, they have a sort of brittle quality.

From Orchid wiz
50% roth 25% bellatulum 25% niveum
Paph. Chrysippus is composed of species of which 75% take medium light and 25% take low light. Grow this hybrid in dappled light conditions. It may be tolerant of shaded conditions.
Paph. Chrysippus is composed of species of which 100% take intermediate temperatures, 100% take hot temperatures, 25% take cold temperatures and 25% take cool temperatures. Grow this hybrid in intermediate to hot conditions, or 68°F (20°C) to 85°F (29°C) at night. It may be tolerant of cold (50°F to 55°F or 10°C to 13°C) and cool (58°F to 60°F or 14°C to 16°C) night temperatures.
60%-70% humidity. Do NOT allow mature plants to dry out between waterings. Grow in a plastic pot with media that drains well but retains moisture. Commonly cultivated indoors. Fertilize weekly, very lightly (one quarter the normal dose). Common media: fine fir bark, with a little perlite.

That's a great flower, Gwen! It will be really stunning when it flowers. Did the seller indicate how old it was/ how long until it flowers? I've been told that once they start making second growths, you can start to expect flowers - so possibly, you are not years away??

Sounds like I am exactly on track based on your information. I am growing it in intermediate to warm temps with significantly cooler night time temps, medium to high humidity and just about perfect lighting conditions. . .good air circulation too.
I repotted just a few days ago in a mix of chopped sphagnum, fine fir bark for seedlings with a mix of perlite and a few chunks of charcoal, in a plastic pot with good drainage. I'll be sure to not let it dry out!
Thanks so much! I am making notes in my orchid tracking software!

I am really looking forward to seeing how the blooms compare to the photo! No, the only description of the plant was leaf span. lol. Both leaves span about 8-9 inches. The tag did specify the parent names: Paph. roth (pollen parent) x Paph. Psyche.
The new growth is TINY. . .maybe 3/16" . . ur, "tall". And I betcha this is going to be a quite slow grower but we'll see. I expect blooms in a year or two.
I really like this one and am super excited to have it in my collection.
