I picked out this big guy at the recent show held by the orchid society of western pennsylvania. It is Paph. Winston Churchill 'Indomitable' FCC/AOS X Thunder Eagle 'Petal Power'. I love it very much, I just hope I'll be able to get a complex hybrid to rebloom! What do I need to do to be successful?
I love it!!! I'm a catt person with a few paphs on the side, so I don't have a great deal of knowlegde about them.
I only have one 'bulldog' that I got last year but it is reblooming for me now. I grow it just as the other paphs...maybe a tad brighter. It isn't finicky at all!
I am merely a beginner compared to other OB orchidites and as I can see your an indoor grower like myself and I have about a dozen paphs. Many have bloomed up to 3 times in one year where others are watching the show still chillin'.
Simple as it sounds, I water twice a week. I really do not like just bark as a medium. I make a mix of perelite, moss, bark chips and alfor...seems to like even more when I fertilize 2 x's a month with 30-30-30 with a few drops of superthrive. I have moved them around my breakfast nook and either moulted or not seem to like a west window with artificial lighting and can't forget the air movement with daily misting, not that they need it it's because I wanted to . Hope this helps a bit, am sure someone with more experience than I can lend a helping hand.
