This is a beautiful primary hybrid. Registered in 1888 it is a cross between Paph. godefroyae and Paph. niveum. It was registered by William Grey of Albany NY who was at the time in charge of the Corning Collection. They were able to bloom 60 of the plants in 1888 and here is a link to a copy of the Jan. 6th, 1912 Horticulture magazine containing an article discussing the first orchid hybrid made in America.

This bloom just opened yesterday. It will flatten out more over the next couple of days. Easy to grow and the flower lasted 7 weeks last year.
