Terri,
Definitely a keeper! Does it have an odor? Mine smells softly of sweet citrus. Congratulations! ![banana](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/banana.gif)

No Vanessa mine has no fragrance. I understand that is the norm for the newer form.

I do have a couple of questions for you since you seem to know a lot about Paphs and delenatii in particular. When this plant bloomed it had two buds. Just as the second bud was opening the petals and sepals on the first flower started to turn brown. It had been blooming for about 2 weeks. As soon as the second one was fully open the first one dropped. I'm not sure how long the flowers are supposed to last, but that seemed kind of a short bloom time to me. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong culturally? It's on the top shelf of my rack in relatively bright light. Gets watered twice a week. Once with 125 ppm N MSU, and once with tap water.

Terri,
Ah, the plant pictures are of the Paph. Ho Chi Minh in the first post?
Paph. vietnamense has short lived flowers that take a while to mature. I've had one last year bloom without me taking notice because it only lasted for a few days. Paph. delenatii is a much faster grower, and typically produces two flowers per inflorescence. In Paph. Ho Chi Minh, the flowers are more short lived and the double blooms seem to be more dominant. A combination of the two will essentially leave the first flower to bloom for a short time, while the second bud is slowly developing, and blooms after the first flower is finished. I think that has happened on one of my Paph. Ho Chi Minh a while back.
There should be a faint raspberry fragrance with your Paph. Ho Chi Minh that may take a couple days to appear...

Very nice one, Terri! I also grow it and I think the foliage patterns also very pretty, don't you think it too?

Thanks Mauro! Yes the foliage is beautiful, that's most of the reason I bought it. It's always a plus to have a plant that looks nice when it's not in flower.
Pat the plant pictures are from the plant that just bloomed. I did not notice any fragrance, and I checked at several different times during the day just to be sure. Whatever it is I like it.

So, Pat, would you say that the presence of a small amount of green on the shield could be considered an indication of the hybrid nature of the flower (I mean Paph Ho Chi Minh)?

Mauro,
That is the main indicating factor; yellow and green coloration combined with red, with white border surrounding the center. Also, the shape of the staminodial shield in Paph. Ho Chi Minh differs from that of Paph. delenatii by inheriting the more downward pointed shield of Paph. vietnamense. A combination of both of these indicates that it is neither pure species ( Paph. vietnamense nor Paph. delenatii).
Also, the petal coloration of Paph. Ho Chi Minh will usually inherit some of the purple pigmentation from Paph. vietnamense, not normally found in Paph. delenatii, with the exception of Paph. delenatii f. dunkel...
What a mouthful! ![Smile](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif)

Hi, This is labeled "Paph. delenatii x sib" Amy's Challange X Hsin-Ming. It seems to exhibit traits from both the older and newer forms. The leaves are highly mottled(very pretty when not in flower), the shield is downward, and the petals are straight out. There is no reddish blush at all in the shield or petals like Terri's picture shows. This has been in bloom for about a month.

![Hello](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/hello.gif) just wait until you buy one you like... you will get stuck to them ![Evil](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/evil.gif) I was not a fan of Paphs/Phrags either, then a friend decided to give me two Maudiae which for some reasons I happen to like. Now I have 4 Paphs and one Phrag, and am seriously considering to stat a "small" collection of Paphs on the windowsill of my sleeping room... ![Big Grin](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/biggrin2.gif)
