What a beautiful bud. And also gorgeous flower, I too want one. I want to try one of the crosses to see if I can do that first. They like it warm don't they. I would have to put it on a heat mat also. Who is his cute little friend?

I think you mean the flowering phal in the group shot? That's a Phal. equestris 'orange' X manni var. flava. I think it's quite sweet too.

Oh dear! It's a profile this orchid mama is struggling to love.

Well, I might just have to start calling my roth Jay Leno for his wonky 'chin'. I'm hoping this is just a first blooming flaw, but what do you think? Do you think it'll be a permanent deformity of the pouch? Or could he turn into a 'George Clooney' on subsequent bloomings?

Could culture error on my part cause it?

I thought it looked so promising in the bud development photos with a nice, dark pouch. Sigh.
