This plant crashed and burned. Some kind of rot everywhere, had to dump it. Sad. Something has gotten into my Paphs, might have to cull a bunch of them.

I'm having excellent results with Paph seedlings in semi-hydroponics, including a P. rothschildianum. |

One possibility, I was out of town over the summer and my plants were babysat by an accomplished orchidist with 1000s of square feet of green house. This is part of her business. My plants completely thrived there - root growth through the roof, spike-forming, etc.
But - three multi-growth, in-spike multifloral paphs came back with rot to varying degrees, and so did a couple of Phrags (though they are fine now.) I'm sure there are more pathogens around when there are that many plants around, and the humidity is much higher there than what I can provide. So, I think that's a double-edged sword.
E.S., when I was at her place, I saw she had a Roth in a plate of water, and she said they love it. My phrags are all semi-hydroponic, but I'm not keeping my paphs that wet. Maybe I should try?

I don't think you can overwater in S/H. I keep cacti in it.

Has he changed the offerings in his retail store as a result of his move from PA to NC? It seems like the most important aspects of this technique are the pots and the clay pellets, and neither is for sale on the site currently (that I saw)

You can buy the clay pellets at a hydroponics store. These are found wherever people grow marijuana. The pots are 1-quart / liter take-out food containers from a restaurant supply store like Smart & Final. I drill holes with my Dreml drill and a conical grinding bit. Most people put two small holes about an inch / 2.5cm from the bottom. The holes need to be smaller than the clay pellets.

Sorry I missed your question. I don't think Ray is selling this anymore. I sure do miss the primeagra. Those clay pellets were nice and uniform allowing for better wicking. I get mine now at hydroponics stores. Not the same quality though.
