My sukhakulii is doing something unusual but it's going to increase the size of the plant in a hurry. These two new growths appeared at the oldest end of the plant. There are five previously bloomed growths between these and the growth currently in bloom. I'm just hoping that by the time they mature the center doesn't die out.

What you are seeing is not unusual. It is a reflection of this plant getting big enough to be considered mature.

Young/small plants usually do a single new growth at a time. Once the plant gets up to 3-5 mature (and usually bloomed) fans, it will start to produce multiple new growths - incl from some of the older growths.

Eventually the center will fade away, but as healthy as it looks in this photo, it won't happen for a while yet.

Thanks for the explaination, Kim. I have a bulldog that is growing 2 new fans, and I thought it was unusual, but not enough to worry.

It is a good thing, I would say.
Not every plant send up multiple new fans at a time even when they get quite old, although this species is sometimes referred to as a "weed" under the right conditions. lol

Two of my hybrids did this.
They matured one fan and bloom at a time, but then by the time they had about 3-4 growths, they started to "explode" with new fans shooting up from all over.
This is the only way to have paphs that will send up multiple flowers at a time, which is a great sight to behold!

Good luck!

Oh, and don't worry about the center dying out because such fast growing paphs tend to bulk up quite fast so that they will fill up the void in no time.
Or are you just worried that the plant will fall into pieces at repotting as a result?
You can just pot them all up together since they are the same plant any way.

How are your delenatii and concolor this year?

I'll probably be posting pictures of the delenatii in another week or so. I think you'll be blown away.
