Default An unexpected guest.

Recently I bought a Paph. malipoense which was potted in 100% sphagnum on a flimsy tiny plastic pot. Upon inspection, I found that the media was severely decayed, and the pot was a bit too small that I decided to give it a repotting.

And while untangling rootballs and string of decayed sphags, I found a tiny seedling growing alongside the mature plant. What a surprise!

Looks like a seed from previous bloom managed to germinate in the media. I've heard that with an extremely slim chance orchid seeds can germinate near the roots of mother plant, but to see it actually happen is just incredible.

No idea of its heritage. Probably a selfie though.

Great find. I got a small villosum and when I re-potted it there were 2 in it also. When I first got it everyone waqs telling me it was probably attached but when I went to re-pot there were 2. One is very much smaller than the other one.
