Paph villosum from Ebay - BIG Surprise = True alba
An eagle eyed friend noticed that the photos of a listed seedling in bud showed no signs of pigment, neither on the leaf base nor on the leaf that covers the bud. Even though the listed parents (Candor XL x Marriott Starburst) are not known for carrying alba genes, I decided to buy the plant.
It arrived with the bud just starting to open, and the flower has no pigment. I can't tell exactly which variety this is yet, as the flower is still opening. But, for reference, the alba that was listed by a seller in Thailand had either $600 or $700 BIN price, so I scored BIG on this transaction.
Photo to follow once the flower is fully open.

Well, it is not quite ready for prime time, but it is sufficiently open to confirm that it is a villosum, and it is an album form.

I love lost tag orchids! I am not one of these who is that worried about the actual name of one. I have plenty of "pink" phals, etc.
