Paph Lynleigh In Pink 'Akhtar'
This is Lehua breeding = Paph Ho Chi Minh x Paph malipoense. Ho Chi Minh (delenatii x vietnamense) is known for having very short lived flowers, but longevity has returned in this next generation.
I bought 5, and this is the best one. AOS judges hemmed and hawed, and in the end they did not nominate it.
This plant is somewhat slow growing. It bloomed first time in 2013, and this is the second bloom.

Looks like a darker version of Lynleigh Koopowitz. Very nice.

Very nice! I hope it will be awarded next time. I am not into Paphs due to the lack of fragrance (or very faint if they are) and their size but that one has a very pleasing appearance. Congratulations!

Nice bloom, I don't care about awards. I don't agree with a lot of their views as to what is good or not, but then it matter much more to breeders or commercial growers who need to "show" records to attract people.
I had one in the past. It had this beautiful leaves, much much better than Lynleigh Koopowitz, I guess it was due to vietnamense influence.

Do you like phals? Other than the waxy leaf varieties, they are not scented.
Some paphs are scented.
Try emersonii, hangianum and certain primary hybrids with these. Their fragrance tends to be stronger than say, delenatii or malipoense, although I have heard people say certain clones of delenatii or malipoense can have quite strong fragrance also.
My Mem. Larry Heuer ( malipoesne x emersonii) has quite strong and pleasant scent in bloom.
I have another one in bud, a third not yet in bud.
can't wait to find out what they will be like.
Now go buy yourself some of these and tell me about them. hahahaha

I have a Phal bellina and a deliciosa. That is the extent. Lately, I have been buying orchids that aren't fragrant due to fact that I have gotten into miniature orchids. I even relented and bought another delenatii. It was the cutest, tiny seeding.
I was 0-3 for fragrance with delenatii, Lynneigh Koopowitz and malipoense. Someone was very happy to take them off my hands. I think it is mostly the breeding. I just gave away a Brassavola nodosa with absolutely no fragrance. I kept it for a few bloom cycles as I just couldn't believe it but...nothing. The other has smaller blooms but nice perfume.
