Watering your Paph, considering temp and HR% Male
Default Watering your Paph, considering temp and HR%

Hello, my friends

First of all, I don't know if it's possible to create a watering schedule based on temps and humidity levels.

I have a Paph leeanum that doesn't take any sun, with day temps around 19 to 21 ºC and by night around 17 to 18 ºC. The humidity levels are always around 55 to 60% due to a water tray where the pot sits in (not in contact with the water, obviously).
Considering these conditions, how many times would you water it?

Thank you

Err, the only answer is when it needs it. You will have to get a feel yourself for when that is, if you can't just check it frequently (like daily).
I'm currently on something like a 5 day for most of my paphs, but one is typically a seven day between. They're indoors, and in east and west windows, and in coconut husk based media. I'm using aeropots (net pots with a transparent clear pot around them) so that tends to produce greater humidity than a pure net pot would...and slower drying. My temps are about 70F now indoors, but RH is about 50-60% as yours is. But each plant is kinda an individual and not really tied to the calendar
Periods of rainy cloudy weather increase the time between waterings..and sunny breezy days (when I open the windows) decrease them.

I think I will follow the rule for all plants here at home. Water once a week in winter and spring, and at least twice in summer. This is the general rule, for orchids or not. My phal, for example, likes this general rule, while my Den has a slightly variation in winter (water it maybe every 10 days). My cymbs follow it too (outdoors), unless it's raining.
So, I'll stick to it and see how the Paph (and by the way, my cambria too) reacts. It's just a matter of calibration.

Thanks

Ok, but you can't be a real orchidophile if you don't let your orchids run your life, and you schedule everything else around them.

Yes, dear, I'll take out the garbage, right after I water oh, 20 orchids. Yes kid#1, I'll take you to the football game, except you have to wait till I repot 3 new plants.

Hmmm.....
