Antique hybrid from 1905 Male
Default Antique hybrid from 1905

I got this plant for $2 in a close-out sale some 7-8 years ago. It was a single growth and only about 2" LS, so it took a while to grow back.

Traditionally it was known as Paph Leyburnense 'Magnificum'. However, the RHS now recognizes a previous registration, so it is supposed to be named Mrs. Haywood.

It is a surprisingly simple hybrid: (charlesworthii x [druryii x superbiens])

Well, to quote someone, I'd buy that for $2. Very pretty, even though you had to nurse it for years.

Nice, pleasing color palette. When I saw it, I thought I saw some druyii in there, the darker single lengthwise strip in the dorsal sepal and petals is a dead giveaway.

I think it's gorgeous, but I wonder if the pedigree is affecting my judgement? Well, I still love it.
