It's better to wait and have a nice plant. I am waiting for some plants now, I know it's hard.

A good vendor will hold a plant rather than risk it coming to harm. In between Boston and Seattle, here in Ohio, it has been below zero, so I can see why they are holding it.

Waiting is normal (and a good thing) unless you order something when the temps are ideal, or nearly ideal, Both origin and destination.
If the orchid is exposed to cold, there could be a lot of damage. If you want to see what I mean, you can check out my thread "Suffering bellina" that is a couple weeks old at most. My second to last post or so has two photos of the damage that happened from being exposed to 20°F - 25°F, upon arrival.
**I'm not trying to bring up anything other than the damage that can occur from being exposed to the cold. The photos are good examples of what can happen.

Hopefully it all works out and the plant is healthy when you recieve it.
What kind of paph?

I had a plant shipped with a heatpack in January last year. Plant arrived frozen and I live in a big building so the box wasn't sitting outside or anything.

When the weather is freezing cold, no matter what the seller says, do not buy or do not have the plants shipped even with heatpacks.

thanks you guys for the feedback. it's much better to wait. like i said i live in seattle and we have been moderate, in the 50s-60s during the day and in the mid to upper 30s at night. i've gotten some stuff already from cali and they came in really good. just the excitement that warmer weather is around the corner.

Omg with all the crazy snow forget about it. The cold is bad but the delay due to air ports and bad roads will make it more stressful on the plant.

I shipped Betta fish cross county and one got lost in the mail during a bad cold snap. Turned up dead . I felt so bad. My others made it with heat packs. When weather is bad anything can happen.

You might be waiting a long time they have so much snow in MA it is crazy. My best friend lived in Boston area.
