I picked this up at a recent show, it was in bud at the time and is now open. I couldn't help but pick it up because it's such a small plant overall and the open one's I saw were so beautiful. I do love this little guy, the leaves are awesome and sort of reptilian looking however I have to be honest that it wasn't the best one I saw. Photographing it was tricky since the flash darkens the red ends of the petals whereas in real time this reddish-purple is more blushing than solid. The brighter picture is closest. The vendor told me some people don't like the brainy look in lips but I think it's super cool!

I'll have to take another picture but I think I spoke too soon! I seemed to have forgotten that it is common for blooms to need time to mature in color and even shape. The red on the ends of the petals has darkened some and there's more contrast overall. It's looking more like the ones I favored.

When I noticed this today I thought "Doh! Of course, give them some time to show their full potential."

Thanks for your remarks everyone.

I think it's cool also. Those leaves do look reptilian.

Nice creepy leaves and a flower!
I have a white/green one, but would love a nice standard form like yours.
