Paph. gratrixianum
Default Paph. gratrixianum

This is the first bloom off of my Paph. gratrixianum. I bought it on eBay as a seedling a year and a half or two years ago. It has a few growths on the way so I'm hoping it grows into a nice clumped plant with a few more blooms next time.

I know this is closely related to villosum, which i also had bloom recently but this flower has been much longer lasting than that was.

I've got a division I bought off ebay that is struggling, hope to see it bloom one day Yours is very pretty, how long has it lasted so far, and how long did villosum last for you?

Villosum only lasted about two weeks... this is going on two months.

It's lovely. I have a villosum but it is only a seedling. It doesn't seem to be doing much. How are you growing these? I know I need to feed it but am thinking I was not keeping it wet enough.

I grow my paphs under T5 lights and they're watered usually 2X a week and fertilized every other week, weakly. I find that members of this group (gratrixianum, exul, villosum) only start to bloom after they have produced a few growths. This is unlike most other paphs which will bloom when the first growth has matured.

Thanks. Then I have a long wait. I have two different growths but they are different plants. Everyone thought they were probably growing together when I got it but I re-potted them and they were not at all attached.

I did put them back into the same pot which is a tiny 2 in. pot. I water it every day or every other. The bigger one is trying to start a couple of new growths but they seem to be just setting there. I have been out of a good fertilizer and I do have one ordered so they have only been getting some fish and kelp mix.

They were looking good then I had to move them into my living room as I ran out of room in my kitchen window and they both lost a leaf. I watered them with Epsom salts and gypsum so I hope they will not lose any more. I decided they were deficient, and don't ask me why because I am not sure. Just reaching for straws.

Nice soft ground colours. I love it.
