This plant has been in bloom for about 10 days and the first blossom has faded to almost white. The new bud is just starting to open and shows how much the color changes after a few days.

Marylin, are you growing this in traditional s/h culture? If so, for how long? It is very beautiful and healthy looking!

Becca

I grow 90% of my orchids with the traditional S/H method. I believe it makes growing, and watering, so simple. Most of the guess work is taken out. All of my slippers (well over 200) are in S/H along with some of my bulbos, most of my Oncid Alliance, and a handfull of others.

I just repotted a phrag Cardinale 'Birchwod' which was overgrown in an 8" pot. What a mass of tangled roots. Some were over 20" long. I ruined part of it trying to separate and divide it. I had to toss part of it but still ended up with 4 nice pots back in S/H. Never again will I let a plant get that large, no matter how well it blooms, and how beautiful it looks.

I didn't plant my zygos in it because I wasn't sure if they would like it. I tried only one. I asked Ray about it and he told me just to be sure not to plant it too deep. It has been in it almost a year, it is going great guns, and is in bloom now for the second time.

I have had good success with that method now for about three years. I grow my plants in my home under lights.

Marilyn
