Default Paphiopedilum Crouching Tiger

Paph Crouching Tiger (Bel Royal 'Lightness' x philippinense alba 'Clarity')

This is a fairly common hybrid these days, and one I like a lot. Seems to be a wide amount of variation among clones. I liked this one so much because the color of the lip is more yellow than others, and the petals got a good shot of philippinense in terms of color, stance, length, and the twists!

This is its 3rd spike since I got it less than 2 years ago. So, it's nice and vigorous.

Personally I prefer colorful multi-florals, so I never would have purchased this plant based on the name. However, I purchased it in bloom, so I knew exactly what I was getting -- a really nice flower.

You really have a lot blooming right now. The dorsal on this one is great. Straight from the Phillies parent.

Yep! This is peak bloom season in my collection. I kind of like having a blooming indoor flower garden this time of year. When it's cold and dreary outside, and the days are short, I'm indoors more, so I enjoy these guys more.

Granted, last year around this time I was dealing with a bumper crop with so much in bloom at once, it was difficult to really appreciate any one thing. This year, the show has been a bit more staggered, fewer things in bloom at once, but a much longer show in total.

Not a big fan of the phil hybrids but this one sure is nice! I probably would have picked it up too.
