Paph. volunteanum??

I bought this plant barefoot at the Philadelphia Flower Show last year from aaorchids. It now has one bloom size growth (blooming) and three new ones started. I was excited when i saw a spike forming and it grew... and grew... into one of the longest paph spikes I've ever had. Finally the flower opened and it looks like i was JIPPED!

I've never seen volunteanum in person... but from my google searches it looks like I ended up with a Paph. appletonianum... and maybe not even a great one of those.

Is this perhaps an odd form of volunteanum or do you think appletonianum or another species/hybrid?

Definitely not a volunteanum, here's a picture of volunteanum: volunteanum

I agree with eggshells, it looks like a bullenianum var. celebense.

Funny, I'd never heard of bullenianum var. celebense before but you're definitely right! Glad to be able to get an ID rather than having a NOID. Thanks!

It seems to be growing well under my conditions, any special requirements for this species?

I think I might have one of these too (I love the appletonianums/bullenianums and have five different varieties of them). I bought a Paph bundtii, but all the pictures on the internet and such seem to point to it being a celebense.

I treat all of these the same; they stand on a windowsill, get Phal light levels (east facing window), are kept at apartment temperatures, are kept moist not wet. They seem very easy to grow and flower I would say.

But honestly, if you've had it getting three new growths and flower, you're already doing everything right so just keep it up.
