Paph question about leaves
I have a paph that I got last year that has put up two new growths. The original leaves were mottled, but the two new growths are not. Is that just because it's not mature or is something else going on. I have noticed that the original leaves mottling is not as noticeable as it was when it was new. It's in mostly shade with a bit of sun in the afternoon. Could it need more or less light ?

BUMP
I'm sorry I can't help you, but I'm interested.
When I first read this, 3 things came to mind.
Too much sun?
Are the parents both mottled leaf, or is one strap leaf?
Maybe new growths change appearance later on?
I'm just a newbie and speculating.. I would love to know too.
What kind of paph do you have btw?

Photos of the leaves and/or the name of the Paph (if you have a label) would help.
It would be highly irregular for a mottled leaf paph to produce pups with leaves that are not mottled. I'm not going to say impossible, but if the plant is healthy enough that it's producing two new growths, it's hard to think of a cultural issue or pathogen that would cause the mottling to disappear.
The mottling itself is a stable trait, it's not something that spontaneously appears or disappears like variegation sometimes can.

Light intensity can make a difference in leaf mottling, overall temperature and night-time temperature drop too. Perhaps even fertilizer issues. What kind of Paph? Are the leaves dark green or washed out?

[QUOTE=MrHappyRotter;723334]Photos of the leaves and/or the name of the Paph (if you have a label) would help.
The label reads :
(Paph. Supersuk 'Eureka' AM/AOS x Paph. Raisin Pie 'Hsinying) x sib
The light spot on the right leaf is from the light on in the room.

Partly this appears to be because the new leaves are not yet mature, but I think your plant may need more light. What is your typical watering and fertilizer schedule?
Paph Hsinying Alien, if you'd like a shorter tag. I think about half the mass market Paphs in the world the last couple years have been remakes and selfings of this hybrid.

Wow, that's interesting! The new leaves look much glossier than the old ones, too.
I agree with Mr PaphMadMan that it looks like it could do with more light. The new growths look rather stolonus, too.

I have a delanatii who's leaves started to become less distinctly mottled while grown quite shady - mottling became much more distinct after I moved the plant to a sunnier window.

I water about once a week, but I feel and consider that when I water to keep it damp but not wet. I am fertilizing now every third week. One week fertilizer, second week Quantum ( plant probiotic ) and one week plain water. All my plants are growing shinny leaves since I started this program, so I think they are happy. I will try to give it some more light. I did kind of think that the new leaves are not mottled because they are not mature, but we will see when I try more light. Thank you for your input

That's strange. All new leaves on my mottled Paphs are more or less mottled, even the ones with a faint pattern.
I didn't know they could lose all mottling on their new leaves like that. You live and you learn, I guess.
