Yeah, that's the great fun about these paphs.
They can come out sooooo different.
I still haven't done what I always meant to do, which is visiting a greenhouse full of these bulldogs in bloom and I am allowed to roam around and pick whatever I like.

Bulldogs just started to come out in full force in the flower stores here, but I was rather disappointed that many of them looked horrible with leaves with brown rust diseases and spikes all half broken up in shipping...one particular store had many fresh and pristine looking paphs in tight buds but none had a tag! it was still very tempting since the plants were all small like yours, around 12'' or so.
I wouldn't mind having great looking NOID with small leaves, but many of these come out looking bad or just so so, and it is not worth paying quite a bit of money on mystery when I already have quite a few myself.
so looking forward to that greenhouse visit one day!!!

Oooo, that's very nice! Pretty wild that it's in such a small pot and yet the leaves are long and the flower's big and beautiful.

Good job getting it to spike after all that. Waiting six years for a flower is a feat in my book. I think it can be rather encouraging for us newer growers to witness such patience even as it involves some errors on the growers part.

Thanks for sharing!! My vote is for keeping it too.

Thank you!
Yeah, I realized that the flower is bigger than the pot! Roots have been doing well the last couple of years, so it may go into a bigger pot in the spring.

I have been known to wait a few years to get blooms - tho this one has been the longest wait, yet - if the plant is otherwise looking good; and if I have never seen the blooms before, I do feel that I want to see them - they could possibly be fabulous!

Right now, I have a first ever spike on a Laelia I've had a few years ... I'm excited to see the blooms! I hope nothing happens to the buds ...
