Default This Lady Forgot her Slipper!

This is Paphiopedilum Sorcerer's Stone that I got last winter. It had a very round and glossy green flower at the time. Very pretty!
It threw a few growths during the summer and fall, and one of them has been growing a spike.

I was very excited because last year's bloom was on a very very short spike looking rather funny, but this time the spike was very long.
The bud got bigger and bigger, and finally began to open a little bit.
I was curious and impatient, so I went underneath and had a look of the flower. Alas, there is no pouch!
Well, there is a pouch deep inside, but it is super tiny and deflated.
I'm already thinking, do I keep this or not.

Good thing is I have a few others in bloom and they are all perfectly normal. and a few more buds to open.

That stinks that it is deformed this time. Hopefully next time it blooms it will get it right.

This is my second plant doing this.
The other one is a parvi hybrid.

That's unfortunate that you had numerous episodes of this case.

I think I'm going to give this one one more chance, but I suspect this plant has some genetic issues.
Last year's bloom, which was the first ever blooming as a single growth plant, also had some defect. The lip was fully formed but had some big dimples.
I kept it because I was hoping for a better shape and this is what I get. lol
It also had such heavy substance and super glossy texture, but this time around, none of those.
The only improved feature is the longer flower stalk.

The plant threw five new growths earlier in the spring and summer, but somehow three of them stopped growing early on, and this is another reason why I suspect the plant has something wrong with it.

I will post some pictures when this one fully opens.
It is quite open now but not fully yet. It looks like as if I cut the pouch off for pollination.

Maybe I could make an artificial pouch with green paper and just hang it right around the anther? hmmm
The challenge is how am I going to make it.

Thanks!

I'm thinking I'll give her one more chance and then decide.
