Default Paph. gratrixianum

I purchased this from Andy's at their open house last weekend. It's in bud and has four new fans. It's a beauty and I'm so excited to get it. Can someone who grows this tellme how much light it can take? I grow my paphs behind a sheer curtain in a west facing window in so. Cal. Will this shrive there also? Thanks in advance.

Paphiopedilums like less light than other orchids, they like 1000-1800 footcandles. I grow mine in a south facing window.I am going to buy one too.

Thank you for your reply. It's a nice plant and I'm still learning about paphs and it seems some like more light than I previously thought.

A pleasure, they mostly like good indirect light. Both types, mottled and plain leaves have different temperature needs all the other culture is the same. The plain leaf of the gratrixianum grows in cool temps ranging from 50°F to 80°F.

You've helped a lot. I'll be sure to post when it blooms. The bud is growing quickly.

Hi

I grow my gratrixianum in a north facing window. Intermediate temperatures.
Mine is just finished blooming!
