I wish I could say I grew this myself, but no, in fact, I purchased it about 3 weeks ago on Ebay:

It's a replacement for one I purchased last year from a very reputable vendor. It barely had 1 viable root and was infested with Mealy Bugs. The bugs ended up spreading to all my orchids and it took months to get rid of them. I was never able to see that one bloom so I was very excited when I found this one. So far, so good!

Don't think you have a spice...maybe hainanense. Pics with leaves would help. Nice bloom tho.

Thanks. I think that could be right...
I'll ask the breeder. He forgot to give me a tag when he sold the plant to me and I think he just didn't remember, which one he gave me when I asked him for the name via email some days later ...

Here's a pic of the leaves.

Are there two flowers on your spicerianum?
I wish mine was a smaller plant like yours.
Mine has rather long leaves taking up all the valuable space.

Just in case, do the bug check.
I'm glad you won the battle with the bug.
How did you get rid of them??

Yes, it has 2 flowers

As far as the bugs, I inspected all the plants and got rid of any visible bugs with alcohol wipes. There were only about 2-3 visible ones. Then, I did 2 consecutive treatments of Bayer 3 in 1 about 2 weeks apart. Since I live in an apartment, I sprayed the plants outside and left them out all day to get rid of the smell. I went ahead and treated all my plants just in case. After that, no more mealys.

Looks like appletonianum to me. Appletonianum var. hainanense has quite a different foliage.

I hope I should know this at least, since I have four different varieties of appletonianum.

Could also be a bullenianum, I honestly can't tell the difference between those two species.
