Question I see that spike on mine too

I am just beginning with orchids and was about to repot this new orchid. I was researching if this was best time to repot and discovered that same spike on mine. Should I wait to repot from 2 1/2" pot?

Yes,
but, how long does it take for the bud to lift and separate once it gets to full height?

Once the spike is done growing, then the nodding bud should open up in about 1-2 weeks. Some develop quite slow, but most of these open up in one week or so.
Then it takes another week or longer for the flower to fully extend.
