I've had a henryanum seedling for about a year and it looks fine but it sure doesn't grow. Anything I read about them was that they were easy to grow and quite fast growing. Mine is defying that!

JM, Ray has lowii on sale through midnight...I can tell you now because I just bought mine so I don't have to worry it will sell out .

But, cause I posted so much re all this, it could not have been clear: I am not interested in owning/ growing lowii; I finally focused rabidly on the two pots of this NOID I have had for years.....one fan in one pot is about to bloom.

Delving online, I came to get it absolutely must have major lowii influence. I am chasing data re its identity/ breeding in hopes I might grow it better.

Mine isn't a the species, pretty sure; as I recall, it doesn't have the brite pink petal tips, etc......but it absolutely has major lowii, I am now certain.

I also learned while delving, lowii isn't truly terrestrial! Interesting, that when I divided the original giant pot of this a year ago, I think, something told me to use just bark mix without the chunks of peat I would normally add to the medium re my Paphs!

The second the top flower opens and ripens I will make pics....can't wait cause I am positive I will then learn more from very Paph savvy members here!

Just made a current image, will put it up; this is like watching cement cure. (I am not a perfect human.) I am sure it's maturing at the same normal speed it always has, but this time, I am focused on it bigtime.....so I can make a PIC and put it UP, and get FEEDBACK.

Had it not been for the feedback offered in this thread, I would have already completed the transaction. Followed by years of frustration and misery, I am convinced.

I find henry simply captivating/ensorcelling. But, from now on....I am settling for images.

But, anyone here interested, there U go. I can't imagine what shipping/certificates would involve, but, it seems they get it done.

Terri- One from Taiwan with Bear something and one without a specific cultivar were the ones better than others, but this "other" group also had that Taiwanese Bear cultivar. lol

I agree, whoever said henrys are easy, it probably needs revision. It might do better with cooling??

How did you grow yours in the winter??

My other hybrids with henry are also slow/seasonal growers. I'm thinking of pitching them.
Cute, but not that pretty and slightly frustrating. I think I have enough reasons now. lol


Jeremy- I feel your pain. Lowii is just gigantic and robinianums I've seen are about as bad. lol

Thanks! I'll look around a little& see what I can find.

During the winter our thermostat is set at 68. At night it goes off and we often sleep with a window open. So night temps often go as low as 60.

Jeremy I also love lowii, but it's way to huge for my space. I've been looking at haynaldianum as it looks similar but is half the size.

Obviously, I have no way of knowing how you feel about such things, but instead of pitching them, perhaps someone here with different growing environment might be moved to adopt them?
