Smile Odette's Vision in bloom

Well the three Vinis I posted in bloom have long been done. I know so far of only one that's started a new growth.

Moving on though Odette's Vision has been in double bloom for weeks. I've even discovered another fan is in short spike!

Enjoy! I'm pretty happy with this plant, my first to have two fans blooming at once. It's sitting now between my Paph. Lebaudyanum in bloom & Zglm. Rhein 'Moonlight' in bloom. Ahh, what a happy living room.

Very nice! My odettes vision came out with a long spike and deformed petals. Hopefully it will look better the next time it blooms...

Thank you all! I was quite happy with this plant from the start as it has multiple fans so I'm not surprised there's a third spike developing but I'm very excited! This flower did take a really long time to develop but I'll get a chance to see with this third one if it was something to do with my conditions before that caused the first two to stall/develop slowly.

That's too bad Cambria, I hope for you too that it's better next time. As you see mine is a pretty compact little guy which I also really appreciate.

Thanks again!

Wink Odette's Vision may be in double spike again soon!

This post is an update as well as a recommendation. If you liked what you saw in the pictures of Paph. Odette's Vision (Paph. Magic Pulsar 'Clearly Red' x Paph. Odette's Magic 'Lehua Ablaze' HCC/AOS) then I do recommend this plant. I got mine (many fans) from eBay vendor TheOrchidGallery.

The blooms have lasted a couple months for me. The leaves have that sort of silvery-blue/green color (mottled). It rather enjoys bright light I'd say. Currently it's in a south-facing window, given winter the sun hasn't been so hot and the plant has experienced no burning. It sits next to a couple Tolumnias, Catts, Paph. Lebaudyanum, a Miltonia, Zygolum. Of course come summer I won't leave it exposed to this direct light anymore (yes it gets some direct sun, for now).

Even with my under-watering the last bloom, which opened almost right after the two before it died, it survived at least two months. During this winter though being so close to the window I'm certain it has felt some noticeable drafts. No damage to the plant itself though at one point during a real cold shock (outside) the bloom did get a bit deformed - I thought it was dying - but lived several more weeks.

Now - go figure I discover while I'm repotting - it appears two more fans have very low sheaths (one I'm certain is a spike in progress, not a leaf). That said last spring very early on the two blooms stalled for weeks, over a month, and I believe because I didn't water enough, maybe not enough light (?). So in the warmer months it may not be so happy about droughts but overall I've found this plant to be more forgiving and 'active' than my other Paphs, except MAYBE Lebaudyanum (my others: Paph. Hsinying Majakun '#7' x Paph. Hilo Green 'Perfection'; President Fred; Pink Fred, Hawaiian Illusion, and three vinis whose names I don't have at the moment.) Oh and if you're wondering Hsinying Majakun '#7' x Hilo Green 'Perfection' has been my most finicky, doesn't like to be under-watered and I think it too wants some brighter light than it gets.

Another take home lesson for newbies: don't get stuck on the idea that Paphs. need low light. Many of them like fairly bright light, Phal levels even more.

Great info and great plants. I love the foliage as well.
