Wow~ How exciting! You did some serious shopping!
Please post pictures when they all open.
I love seeing those completely dark and super hairy spikes coming up.
I have all the hybrids of your second post, and they are all seed grown hybrids, so it will be interesting to see how the flowers turn out.
Paph. Magic Leopard 'Voodoo' x Paph. Hsinying Rubyweb '2096#1' , in particular, can come out really nice!
Yours look like it has two buds.
Regarding the last one, I don't want to be a party pooper, but to me that dark one looks more like a dead leaf. Is it growing?? would love to see how the flowers turn out.

Oh don't tell me anymore about them!!
So you have all of them!? I'm still kicking myself over not getting one (don't know the name) that had a lot of red in the leaves, not in a pretty way, but gosh...stop thinking about it...
Well, that would be quite sad BUT it has grown. I looked at it closer and it is in fact brown but it's not dry by any means, it still has normal plant texture but dead leaf color, so this should be interesting...
Be anxious in line right behind me to see all these guys!
Thanks!

I have all the ones in the second post of yours.
So, you visited Hausermann and picked out the ones you liked?? That's cool!
I wouldn't be able to resist these in dark spike.
can't wait to see the open blooms!

Shall I say I limited myself to three of the ones I liked, though I really wanted 4, maybe 5 or 6, but still should have got 4...lol...I got three mini Phals and a blue mini Catt too....
So I'm glad you shared you think it looks like a dead leaf, while it's always been brown and has grown, now that it is slightly more visible I am of the mind that it is dead. Given that it's not exactly "in spike" I went ahead and repotted it. I planned to since I got it oh in May I think but just never got around to it. It appeared to be in bark and maybe that Promix stuff people have asked about and mentioned here before. The roots were wrapping around the pot so I do believe it needed an upgrade but the roots are AWESOME, only two little rotted pieces deep down in the middle, and maybe 6-7 growing root tips at all depths. I repotted it in a mix of a variety of media & am crossing my fingers that it stays happy. I also went up a pot size, maybe two but it seems perfect. Little bit of Miracle-Gro fert and it's back outside. I'll be interested to see what happens from here.
And that mix it was in, well I used to get scared when I saw it until members here mentioned that it may be a professional mix. We had a big storm a couple of nights ago, lots of rain and then some rain this morning (though I had already tucked this guy back to get out of the sun but where it probably doesn't get rain cuz I didn't know it was going to!) and this mix was not even hardly moist today!!! So pretty great drainage. This taught me that I probably haven't been watering this thing nearly like I think it needs from the beginning. I've been learning slowly, maybe too slowly, with my Oncids & it seems Paphs just how much water they need, oh yeah and my Catts, that one's been a struggle for me...
Thanks for your interest & infor!

Yes, that mix is what many professionals use.
I bought about three paphs that came in that mix, and they had the best roots ever!

What the blooms look like...
So, over a month later and here I have some blooms for you. Mind you Paph. Hsinying Vinyweb '#2' x Hilo Magic Shift '#1' was the first to open. This bloom didn't last any more than two weeks. I'm not so sure if this was my fault but the bloom took a very long time to officially die and fall off, in fact, it took about 10 days from initial wilting until today when it fell off. Perhaps that means it was a natural death?
Sorry its pics aren't the best but here's what I got with and without flash.
Paph. Hsinying Vinyweb '#2' x Hilo Magic Shift '#1'
Also I don't have an update on blooms for Odette's Vision at this point because as you may have read in other posts that plant has been stalling its growth on and off (or rather, I have). Thus it is still in spike...almost bud...?
Anywho, the Fairrieanum hybrid opened about two weeks ago.
Paph. Fairrieanum 'Red Glen #10' x Paph. Hsinying Glory '#5'
And finally, the last to open, still not open fully:
Paph. Magic Leopard 'Voodoo' x Rubyweb '2096#1'
This one isn't nearly as dark as the others as you can see. It is more translucent especially on the petals. Also the veining on the dorsal at this point looks more like dark green than the dark dark almost black that is/was present on the other two. I think this one is my favorite so far with Fairrieanum real close by. The bright green present in the center of both the first and last I do love.
...okay so I pretty much love them both but for different reasons...
Thanks for looking!

been away for a few days.
I like the first one. The shape is good and the color is very nice! What a pity it was only good for such a short time. I have no idea why it did what it did.
These usually last easily a couple of months.
I have got maybe two or three flowers that only lasted about one month and I was pissed! lol
Hopefully, the next time it flowers, it will stay in bloom longer.
The second one, also very nice, especially the dark red color. I have two of the same cross (well, one has exact same parents as yours and the other one same but with different individual of the same grex, I think the number is 3 on both parents), and they both look very different. One of them looks very much like yours with smaller dorsal, and the other one with parents number 3, is very dark and nice large and perfectly round dorsal.
Unfortunately these are large plants. All the fairrie maudiae hybrids tend to generate rather large plants.
How big is yours??
The last one, I would say falls under "inferior" quality considering what this grex can produce. Not bad, but I'm saying in relative terms after seeing so many nice ones coming out of this grex.

I was pretty bummed for sure. In fact I do believe it first started its downfall after a watering, maybe even the same watering that employed Kelpmax. The plant overall seems to be fine but the flower wasn't happy. I'll have to look closer and see if it's started any new growths as this is a single fan plant at this point.
I'll post a pic later of the Fairrieanum plant but in my opinion it is not a large plant, not quite as compact as the first, and while it has three fans it's still more of a smaller plant. I'm still fairly new relatively speaking so my understanding of small and large within the world of Paphiopedilums is admittedly limited but i do think I know enough to say it's not large. Would you be willing to post any pics of yours, if you have them of course (sorry if you've already answered this)?
Interesting to hear that about the last. I googled the parents a couple of times but didn't want to spoil the surprises to come so I'll have to go back and see if I can find more pics of that cross. For myself I do like it quite a bit. The leaves are longer and skinnier than the other two, I prefer more rounded leaves. What, in the world of Paphs, makes a bloom inferior? Simply curious, not taking any of this personal, after all they are still lovely to me. FYI.
Thanks for sharing!

I do not know what makes the bloom span shorter than it is supposed to, but it may be something that the plant just does.
My paphs grow all in the same area, so they are all treated the same.
The plants (I think about two or three) whose flower lasted one month at one time, generally stayed in bloom for well into three months.
Well, parvis are probably the smallest and similar to maudiae type hybrids, not going over 10 inch leaf span in most cases.
I like smaller plants with large flower, but often large plants tend to have a larger flower.
Many maudiae type paphs are much smaller than 10 in leaf span, but now some older ones I have are getting bigger and bigger, but they generally stay very compact.
Maudiae type crossed with fairrie tend to be much bigger (one leaf is bigger than the entire leaf span of maudiea type) although I've seen very compact one at a show in the past, which I really wanted but of course not for sale.
This large size is a big minus for me. The flowers are about the same size as maudiae or slighter larger, so much bigger plants are really not good for me.
Then again, people with much more space than I, or those who are into multifloral, this size is nothing. hahaha
The last hybrid from your post is now in high supply in the market. This grex really have great potential!
I find the leaves a big on the big side compared to my other maudiaetype (but again, my standard lol), but they are forgivable since flowers are usually so pretty.
Well, as for what makes a paph flower inferior, to me, it's just a personal thing, but many paph fanciers usually go for the award potential, so the most important criteria are shape (as flat as possible, mind you this is almost impossible as most dorsal is cupped in a varying degree, and full segments) and size (bigger the better).
I'm usually happy as long as the dorsal isn't too cupped, and the pouch isn't crippled. lol
Then, I have to like the overall shape and the colors.
I just know it, and decide which one to let go. haha
New fan will come as a matter of time.
Many of them come with one or two already starting at first flowering, and these are usually the great ones as far as ease of growing obviously.
Then most of them will start a new growth shortly after or around the time the flower is finished or before.
Then I have had just a couple that took over one year to start a new fan. I almost tossed them, but they had the best flowers, so I kept them.
