Default Let it grow~

Whether is getting warmer and most of my paphs are busy getting into fast growth mode.

The first two are insigne sanderae. There were three flowers, but now there is only one handing. I had three flowers last year and again three this time.
I only saw two new fans this past year, so I was thinking the plant was going downhill. Well, I am happy to report that this thing is sending up four more new fans! (the picture shows two of the newest fans)
I'm dreaming one day I too might have a well-grown insigne with hundreds of flowers from one big pot!

Then the rest are mixed hybrids. Maudiae cross with charlesworthii that has solid leaves is showing some mottling on the newer leaves. Maudiae genes kicking in I guess.

Maudiae fairrie hybrids are all growing like weeds. I only wish they were smaller.

French Jewel and Mr.Wonderful is about to open up. They are beautiful as they are now in bud. Hopefully they open up pretty.

Deperle is open this week. It has delenatii dunkel and the pink color is coming through nicely.

Niveum hybrids are all growing vigorously after not doing anything since they flowered in the fall. I guess they really like warm weather to get going.

Paphs look great. They obviously love your growing regimen. Don't forget to post pics when they all open up

Wow, great job! Can I ask as to how you care for them especially with respect to watering and lighting? Different mediums or do you have a preferred?

Thanks for sharing and congrats, this is so exciting indeed.

Thank you all!
I will post flower pictures soon.
French Jewel and Mr. Wonderful are slowly opening up and I really like the color on FJ. Shape will be hit or miss. Please not too ugly!!!

With regard to the culture I give them, I grow my paphs in a city apartment. I have a large window with south exposure and I have light sheer curtain drawn to protect my orchids from strong sun.

Paphs are placed within 2 meters from the windows. They all get very bright light. The ones that are very close to the window are shaded by taller plants.

Watering: This is rather annoying and sometimes stressful job for a few reasons. My paphs are in three different types of mix; straight moss, chc based mix, and orchiata based mix. I don't really have preference but chc would be my favorite if I had to choose one. Different things dry out at different rate. Also, the size of pot, root mass of plants all should go into considerations. So my paphs are not watered all at the same time. I have many and they are in different sizes and conditions.

I push with watering, not fertilizing, and during the active growth or spiking, flowering, I try and keep the plants well watered. This can be multiple times a week sometimes. During the colder months, I water less of course, but you should never ever dry them out.

Thanks for sharing. (I'm upping my watering game because I think I've been letting mine dry out too much, as I've mentioned in more than a few places I'm sure.) Can I ask how many you have?
