Two Flowers open together on Paph. liemianum
Default Two Flowers open together on Paph. liemianum

This is a plant I bought in January with its very first flower open.
As sequential bloomers generally do, it has been giving me one flower at a time. One will open, and then drop. then there was a short pause before the next one would open up.

This is the first time I see two flowers open at the same time. These are 4th and 5th flowers on the same spike.

Starting with the 3rd flower, it kind of showed me that it could have two flowers open at the same time.
The 3rd flower was nearly done but still hanging while the 4th flower was opening up. By the time it was fully open, the 3rd one was long gone.

It is quite cute to see two of them together.
It's been like this for about two days now and the older flower still has a good substance.
Plus I already see the 6th bud developing fast.

Maybe this plant wants to have two flowers open together from now on! yay!!!

Not unheard of, but you are correct that the old flower generally drops before the new one opens.

A nice pair of flowers!

You may find this plant does this all the time for you. I have some liemianum that always have two flowers, at least mostly always. Then I have another that doesn't even start to develop the next flower until the previous one drops. There can be quite a range from plant-to-plant.

Thanks, everyone! People love these sequential paphs! never new!

Jeremy,

After looking up some images online, it turns out this happens all the time as you said. lol

I saw this one very impressive picture of multiple growth liemianum with a few spikes, all of which had two flowers on! It was a show in Japan.
