That's an interesting way of putting it :-)

It's not a cheap plant. I think it's worth it though.

I don't mind paying market price for plants I can use for breeding. Bruno is more of a 'foundation' plant, which it would be nice to have for shows and as a conversation piece.

I just purchased Alcibiades 'Bertsch', which falls into the same category, but for about half of what the last seller wanted for Bruno.

Beautiful paph! I will put that one on my wish list. Great photographs also. What kind of lighting did you use?

I got this, at the suggestion of another member on this board:

Amazon.com: CowboyStudio Photography/Video Portrait Umbrella Continuous Triple Lighting Kit with Three Day Light CFL Bulbs, Three Stands, Two Umbrellas, and One Carrying Case For Product, Portrait, and Video Shoots: Camera & Photo

I use a Canon T1i with a 60mm f/2.8 Macro lens

I've taken even better pictures since then! But perhaps I will wait for calendar entries next year.

Here is another one of my plants, the blooms now open. This is the largest one. It produced two flowers this year, and should produce at least three next year. These divisions were taken from a very large awarded plant that was broken apart a few months ago.

Very nice! I use studio lights also and I feel like I get more realistic colors than I did with a flash. Your pictures are great. Good job.
