actually it is 20 - mule team borax, it is suppose to improve the cleaning of your detergent, and deodorize. It softens the water.

I see. I don't think we have hard water here, so maybe that's why I don't see it here.
I remember water was very hard in the Rocky area. All the plates and glass came out with white residue out of the dishwater.

Yes indeed, I use lemi shine in the dish washer and still my good glasses I hand wash and dry so not to get streaks. It tastes good though and my garden and yard and even house plants have always done good on it. I have used it on orchids also when I ran out of rain water. Now I am more careful after joining this forum.
I guess I can't say I know if that could have been a problem or not with my orchids before. I really think it was me just not re-potting them

According to Ray NYC has some of the purest water around. He actually recommends using MSU formulated for RO/distilled with NYC tap water.

I don't like all tap water. Ours is well water but I pack it with me as I don't like the water in town and I hate bottled water, yuk.

I have some friends who are sensitive to how different water tastes.
I can only tell if it is between straight water and fizzy water or otherwise flavored. lol
