Default any guesses on color?

Found this paph in bud, it is paph. macabre contrasts. The display picture on ebay shows a beautiful black orchid with white striped dorsal. The picture of the orchid itself has a bud with stripes on the dorsal, but there is a purpleish blush on it which worries me. Do you think it will turn out like the picture or will it be more purple than black? was gunna bite the bullet on this one, but wanted to be informed if im gunna be dissapointed. Sorry if i sound like a broken record, im a picky person when it comes to expensive orchids

Hope you have a good day.

here is the ebay link to the listing.

Since this is not a primary hybrid (i.e. both parents are hybrids), I expect that there will be lots of variation. It may be better to buy a flowered one with the trait you want (or flasks, so you can pick the color/trait which you want) if you have a particular color/form in your mind.

I agree there will be a lot of variations on this flower. It might not look like that picture very much at all. It could, however, be close - you wouldn't know until it's in bloom.

That hybrid isn't black. It's more of a dark maroon. I would always recommend buying vinis in bloom. As Naoki pointed out there is a lot lo variability in this cross.

I agree.

That is one of Lehua's plants, and I think that the reproduction of the reproduction of the image made it look blacker than it really is.

Here's a shot from Lehua:

There are no truly black paphs out there.

I agree. Could be tons of variation but most likely will be darker.

If you want, I could keep my eye out for dark paphs at the Plant House in Omaha. In winter through spring they have lots and lots of different Paph species & hybrids, and only ones that are easy to grow. Also, come to the 2014 Orchid Show in Omaha. I guarantee there'll be something there that you'll like.
