I have a hybrid that looks like a giant spice (Hsinying Delight is the name I think).
I find paphs with spicerianum in them tend to grow very well. I've tried a few over the years and all did very well.
By the way, how deep is the pot this plant is in?
and what mix do you use?
Do you leave this plant outside year around in your climate?

Thanks everyone! I always look forward to sharing my joy here... I know y'all appreciate this stuff as much as I do!
I agree Spice makes things grow well... this thing is like a weed at this point, and I love it! I'm really excited for the Paph Bruno's blooming later this year. I had the chance to get a specimen plant of it but it was just way, way too expensive and I didn't think it was in a good state. So I went with smaller divisions and I will grow my own to that size :-)
The pot is 4.25" deep x 6" across. Pictures of the type below.
For all my Paphs, I use a customized Orchiata mix. I really love that stuff and have 'gotten to know it well' i.e. how to read how wet it is, what it's like to first use it fresh, etc so I'm pretty comfortable with it. I can't (for now) imagine using anything else.
Most of my Masdevallia collection is outside (about 30 of them at this point) but the rest of the orchids are all inside. That includes another 4 Masdies that I am growing under the lights. I do quarantine new Paph's outside (because I have room for them there) but I don't grow them outdoors in general.
NYC, I went to a semi-annual sale this last weekend and got two new Vini's and thought of you... I will post pictures when they open!
