Default Maudiae Dark Con Color showing new bud

Maudiae Dark Vini Color showing new bud-002-jpg[ATTACH]85294[/ATTACHMaudiae Dark Vini Color showing new bud-003-jpg] This was a surprise I found yesterday while monkeying around with my plants. Paph.Con-color Maudiae ( Magic Cherry X Cyberspace ) 2 fans with new growths on each. It usually blooms in the late winter. So this was a big surprise. JamesL

I love to find spikes while observing my plants.

Yours sounds like a good cross. Do you have a flower picture? If not, please do post a picture when it blooms.
I am always on the lookout for a nice vini color paph.

I saw three vini paphs at a flower district. All of them had bad flowers. Droopy, wilting, and mealy bugs walking all over on them!
The clerk at the store told me they are just opening up. Clearly, they were lying or ignorant.
I quickly left the store. lol

I sure do, here's an old pic. form 2010 Magic Cherry is on the Left. Mystic Jewel X Dragon Flag on the right. The one in the back went to heaven. So sad. Mystic Jewel may be starting to spike, It's starting to act like it wants to. I love the hair and warts on these guys. I Will defiantly put pic. up when they progress further along. I think it is more of coloratum, not a vini.
The one that went to heaven looks more like a vini. Sorry to hear about the loss. Was it a rot?

The alba one next to Magic Cherry looks huge! or is it because it is placed in front of Magic Cherry?

I love these orchids!

Yes you are correct got out the hard copy photos. on the back is Coloratum. The one in the back is Hsinyig Web. and a vini.( dead ) I lost that one and almost lost my big bull dog ( Cant forget big RED ) do to a really bad batch of potting mix I bought. My regular supplier got a bug up his you know and wont sell potting mix any more to anyone. I found Better-grow at Lowes is working just fine now, as is the bull dog. And Dragon Flag is much bigger than the others. Pic. is a bad the green veins on the pouch are really vivid. Kind of creepy but in a good way. JamesL

I am struggling with one vini that is probably my favorite. The poor little thing keeps getting this brown rot on the leaves.

So you use better-grow orchid mix (bark or moss, I think I saw two types) for your paphs and they all do well? Maybe I should give it a go.
I once bought the moss and the moss looked not so good to me, so I just tossed it.

I now use either straight sphag with some bark chips or chc based mix from repotme. I like the result.

I love maudiae alba forms and would love a large flowering type like Queen or something similar.
So you have a quite big one there as well then.

Yeah, those fine details on these flowers can look creepy. I used to hate the lady slipper orchids in general.
Now I love them!

The mix for the Paphs. I used is Better-grow Phalaenopsis mix special blended with coarse peat. the one for Paphs. I thought to course and to hard to hold water. JamesL
