Paph Sanderianum - Sharing Experience
I've had this paph. sanderianum for a long time, since it was a small seedling. After several years, I still had no idea if the plant is mature and when it will bloom. Many posts say it take at least 10 years and leaf span more than 30 inches.
To my surprise, it decided to bloom after nearly 8 years. It has 3 growths. The leaf span of the big growth is about 20 inches. The plant is not huge but the flowers' petals are very long and elegant. When the flowers opened half way, the petals dropped down and I measured 18 inches. They then started growing down each day. After 5 days, they are more than 30-inches long and will still become longer. At the same time, they start twisting/curling.
I am happy to see the flowers. It is no longer a "myth" to me. I am posting this to encourage those who have had or will have this kind in the future.
The pot is nearly 8 inches. When re-potting next time, I will use a white pot, which will show better contrast against the petals.
I grow this in the house, near a window. Light is less than that for my vandas or cattleya.

Wow that is awesome. It looks really happy and healthy. I bought one of these seeding sized about 5 months ago. It's has only put out one and a half new tiny leaves..i didn't realize that it took so long to bloom from a seedling previously to owning it...I'm not sure if I'm up to the challenge or not....but it is beautiful!!.

Mine is single growth,4 leaves each 14", hoping it will bloom in 7 years.
