I've been seeking a sangii but cant bring myself to pay 90 bucks or more for the plant, so when i came across this cross in bud i HAD to have it. I figured it would bring me one step closer to the real deal. Today it opened completely and I'm so pleased. I know some people are not fans of sangii but this cross takes away some of the "weirdness" that people dislike plus... its sequential!!!
I really like it! But, it really doesn't remind me of sangii at all. I kind of have an "orchid fund". I save up at least $100 or more and buy the ones I really want, rare ones, or really expensive ones that sometimes take all the funds. Just an idea.
I find the flower shape of sangii ugly with that droopy look, however, I absolutely love the color pattern of its flower!
My personal view with liemianum is the opposite.
I think your flower came out quite pretty with the nice shape of liemianum. The color is dominated by liemianum as well, but the coloring of the dorsal show some sangii influence.
This plant is doing great and has a new growth. The second flower opened and the first is starting to show signs of fading. It is becoming one of my favorite paphs.
