Two new fans!!!
Default Two new fans!!!

One of my vini maudiae is finally behaving. It must have overheard me downsizing the collection.

I found the usual one new growth two weeks ago and today I found one more poking above the dirt.

I have two NoID which are obviously vini maudiae releated. They were bought in one pot but are very different in growth style. One has about 5 growths/immature fans all growing, and I'm never surprised when I find more. The other generally only has one new growth at a time and I was really surprised to find a second new one on it recently

Give the Maudiae a biscuit since it's behaving so nicely.

It's always great to find new fans growing on the little buggers. Imagine my surprise when I found not one, but two on my henryanum, too! My Maudiae is working on its new fan, but it's a rather weak plant, so I don't know if it'll make it or not yet.

your new fans are growing so different then mine- My paph Maudiae's new growth is still very curved yet bigger looking than yours. Tag said it was a Maudiae. It was no longer in bloom & onsale.

Speaking of Henryanum, my henryanum & Green Complex (I wouldn't bother listing the names, too long) is dying.
I've seen a plant with a same tag at a store last month and the flower was not as good as mine and the coloring was different too.

What a bummer...The good news is there are many beautiful paphs I have not tried yet.

That's a bonus! Do they have different flowers too or very similar? if different and you like them both, then it's a real bonus, isn't it?

I haven't had that happen to me yet, but I suspect that one of my maudiae alba which is exceptionally vigorous (it is putting out 7 new fans at the moment) is in fact more than one plant in one pot.
I will find out when I repot later. All the flowers last season (4) looked exactly the same though.

I think it's pretty much the same.
Yours is just much older than mine, so the size difference.
The pictures are blurry and I can't quite tell for sure but it looks to me the new fan on that plant is bent because the growing tip is stuck on the older fan next to it.
Maybe you can help relax it?

Yours could be a true maudiae, a cross between lawrenceanum and callosum, or a generic tag, which then could be any hybrid that has a flower that look like maudiae, maudiae type as they are often called.

They are similar-ish but have noticeable differences. I actually slightly prefer the one from the smaller plant, but both are lovely.

mine came with a tag that says-
'paph.(makuli-curtisII)-Maudiae x Maudiae'Napa Valley' HCC/AOS x Sib'

That's about all I know, It has spotted leaves. I don't know much about paphiopedilums yet.

Can I just ask a question regarding paph fans...

I bought a delenatii around 20 May this year. It was then in flower. Due to transport etc the flower wilted within a few days.

Since then the plant has been at a complete stand-still. Yes, I know it's only been 1 1/2 month, but I'm kind of curious as to when I might see some new fans. Can anyone give me a rough idea?

It can vary a lot. Sometimes I see them just before the flower opens, but other times it can be sitting with only the old fan for months and months before I see new growth. Sorry, can't really say
