I just examined one of my vini maudiae with multiple shoots. It seems the wine coloring on the backside of the leaves develop slowly on the new leaf. so it is possible that you see more and more of it once you got home. A few of the new leaves that are not yet mature show no redness at all but all green.
Anyways, I didn't like paphs very much either. but then I got two at a show years ago. It turned out that they were quite easy to grow and bloom. Blooms last long and some have nice leaves to look at when there are no flowers to look at. lol
I now have quite a few of these plants. I love them!
The flower spike move forward to the light source unless you are growing in a greenhouse or light set up.
While the spike is strong enough to hold its flower up, I either turn the pots or stake the spikes as I do not like it when they are leaning forward or flowers get oriented in an odd fashion.
