Hey guys...
This state park is 10 minutes from my house in Durham, NC. I was lucky enough to get directions to a rare site that supports a colony of Small Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum var. parviflorum)! They are much less common than the Large Yellow Lady's Slipper which grows in the mountains of NC. I happened to catch them in full bloom today and it was AWESOME! I counted 14 blooms total, on maybe 20 plants. Each flower is different, and one spike even held 2 blooms! I'll NEVER forget this... what a treat!
Haha- the site looked exactly like the banner at the top of Orchidboard!
