My Paph Magic Lantern's lower leaves are turning yellow and then soft brown, then dry brown. I decided to repot it just to be safe if there was deteriorating potting mix. However the lower leaves are still yellowing. And it seems like the yellowing is ocurring at a faster rate than growing of new leaves. It originally had 5 healthy mature leaves, but now there are only 3 healthy leaves and one leaf that is starting to yellow. The environmental conditions shouldn't be the problem since a delenatii next to it is growing fine. I give it the same amount of water and fertilizer as the delenatii. What could be the problem and how do I correct it?
Let me guess... are these leaves on the clusters that have already bloomed? (The older clusters). If so, that is totally natural. As long as the lower leaves are involved, and as long as the oldest clusters are involved, that is natural. Any new growths occuring yet?
This growth hasn't bloomed yet since the leaf on the top is still growing. I see no mites. I am not exactly sure if it is getting enough magnesium or calcium, however my tap water is somewhat hard since they leave a slight residue on the leaves where ever there were water droplets; and I am sure those are minerals because I don't have softned water. Maybe it will stop yellowing after it gets settled since I repotted it? I hope the yellowing doesn't proceed to the very top leaf and kill the plant.
