Neither one will win any awards, but they looked good together on the bench. The venustum is rather small and the dorsal on the spicerianum tilts forward too far, but I like them anyway. The one thing the spicerianum has going for it, though, is the fact that it grows like a cabbage and throws new growths all over the place. One of the parents was spicerianum 'Candor' HCC/AOS.

I always liked the colors of spicerianum, especially the purple staminode.

Just beautiful! I'm thinking of getting a spicerianum-are they a good beginner paph?

Who cares about others judging your flowers? If you like your plants, then that's what it counts the most I think.

By the way, it sounds like you have a super clone of spicerianum that will soon give you a great flower show!

The division of the plant that I took the photos from has two growths in bloom, five previously bloomed growths (two with only 2-3 good leaves left) and is showing four new growths and possibly a fifth. And this is my small division!
