When I first saw that name of the orchid, I thought it was referring to cultural conditions (i.e., low humidity). I have to agree with you the name seems odd for an orchid, but perhaps there's a story behind that name.

Part of the name, I think, come from the fact that the one parent is Paph. lowii, but as to the "hum" I'm clueless.
