A terrible day with paphs.
Default A terrible day with paphs.

I accidently broke off a spike on Armeni White. It last flowered a month or so ago. I was so excited to the second spike shortly after. but it is gone now.
I did patch it up with a tape hoping it may heal itself but I have little hope.

The second accident is less severe.
One of my favorite orchids, speicerianum and stone lovely cross, with three flowers got hit by my rear end and one of the flowers lost its beautiful white dorsal.
could've been worse and I still have two in perfect shape. I noticed that there is a fourth flower in the making. yay!!!! (although by the time this one opens up, all three current blooms will not be present any more).

Sorry about your accidents. I've broken new spikes and new buds many times. It's very upsetting. I always think to myself 'why the hell didn't I just leave it alone'.

I am so good at ruining spikes that when I noticed my bulbo ambrosia had them, I put it down like a hot potato and fled. I now water without getting close....

How is that possible?

I'm usually very careful, but I guess I should start using some kind of mini fence around individual plants with spikes.

By the way, the patched up bud is drying out and droopy. I guess it's dead. oh, well...
There's another large new growth that I'm expecting to see a spike soon. I actually thought I would see two spikes at the same time on this plan.
now that one is gone, the plant might even eccelerate the making of another spike.
will see.

My first paph that I ever had and ever bloomed was P. delenatii. Well, it almost bloomed. It had two buds and 1 was just showing a hint of opening and I knocked both the buds off. I was so, so mad at myself. Now it has another big growth so hopefully when it blooms I won't knock the buds off.

I've always wanted to grow delenatii! I can just imagine how furious I'd be with myself if I did that. Hope your next ones make up for the loss!

There are four new growths of various sizes on this plant. The largest one will still need to grow one more leaf before sending up a spike. but who knows?
I guess either got lucky or this plant is able to flower twice a year.
I love frequent bloomers.
