About a month ago, I also bought one at the Barcelona Orchid Show. It was in bud on a stem of about 15 cm. I don't know why, but the bud blasted. It has just 1 growth that was blooming and a second smaller growth. Do they bloom on the newest growth, or can they rebloom from older growths?

If an older growth has already bloomed then it won't bloom again from that growth.

And nice blooms.

Oh bad luck Orchuiadicto. I think I've been very lucky with mine: it was actually wrapped for 2 days after I got it, so I was half expecting the flower to be gone when I got home! It has a crack on the side of the pouch from wrapping but it hardly shows (it's in the picture I think). I hope yours starts working on a new bud soon. Did you get it from Roelke? I got mine from them. I think mine would have been worth the price I paid out of flower: hope that's true for you too!

Silken, agree with what you say. I think yours is more 'showy' compared to mine, but definitely not so far that way. Also definitely think a flat dorsal would be a loss: did you see the pic on that article showing spicy dorsals from above? It's almost like having two flowers in one! Would love to see a whole plant pic when you can.

I wouldn't like to tell anyone what they should like, that's personal taste. And I guess having some 'rules' makes judging a lot easier. But for me fatter/rounder/flatter/bigger does not equal better.

No, I didn't get it from Roelke. I got it from a Spanish grower, Orientyorchids. It's doing well now, so I hope I'll get flowers next season.

Our computer is back on line now. Turns out it was the fan in the video card.

I attached a couple more pics of my Paph. For some reason it looks like the 2nd bud is blasting. I don't know why it would get close to opening and then blast I didn't get a very good photo of the plant but you can see the length of the flower stem compared to a fairly small plant with 2 mature fans and a couple smaller ones. I thought I'd throw in another pic from a different angle too.
