Paph Vinicolor in bloom
Default Paph Vinicolor in bloom

This is one of my many (paph.Supersuk 'Eureka' AM/AOS × Paph.Raisin Pie 'Hsinying') ×Sib. phew~ that was long.

These seem to be very common along with Napa Valley cross (not going to write out the whole thing but it's a alba maudiae type). Actually, two stores I visit often alway have lots of these two all year long.

Many of them look similar but sometimes there are some special ones with unique patterns on the leaves or different flower shape.

Thing is they are mostly sold in bud, so you have to be lucky what you might end up with.

I bought a whole bunch of them, tossed some ugly ones I didn't like and kept a few I like.

Now this latest bloom turned out very uniqe in that it is almost vinicolor while almost all of these are usually coloratum.

I like how glossy and how flat on the vertical plane the flower is. definitely a keeper for me.

some flowers of the same cross. The coloration is very similar but the flower shape varies quite a bit.
Patterns on the leaves are different as well as the plant size. Very interesting!

By the way, what does Hsinying mean? I see that name quite often.

More pictures from last night.
The one on the left is the same one that belongs to the original post.
The other larger vinicolor is NOID, but it's very promising with four or five growths developing.
love the very very dark color and the dorsal shape, but I still have hard time getting over the rough skin texture.
Those skin cancer looking dark bumpy stuff all over on the petals. This picture isn't clear enough to capture that, but some of you who have seen that in real life know what I'm talking about.

The alba in the middle is my good boy that blooms twice a year and stays in bloom for three months!
I divided this one last year, and one of the half flowers earlier this year and I gave it away as a gift to someone.
This is the other half of the division and went without flowers for almost a year. It grew two new growths, one of which is in bloom now and the other growth seems to be growing a bud. yay!!! finally two flowers on one plant!
