I bought this on the Barcelona orchid show. I managed to bloom a NoId paph, so that encouraged me to take the step.

The main reason to get this paph is that it is a sequential bloomer. I hope I can get her survive winter at home and then take her outside in spring.

P. spicerianum isn't a squential, as you mentioned above. But it a wonderful species, typically with one bloom per stem. I've seen some specimen plants with too many stems to count.

You're right. Squential bloomer is not the correct definition. What I meant is that it coud have more than one flower per stem. Or atleast that's what I think I read somewhere on the net (IOSPE I think).

This is what the IOSPE says about the spicerianum

... that flowers from autumn till winter with an erect, multiflowered, sequential blooming, slender, purple 9 to 16" [20 to 40 cm] long, inflorescence with ovate, acute bracts and needs shade with no winter rest.
(I did the bolding of multiflowered and sequential)

Time will tell if it's correct or not.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't know how the IOSPE came up with that information. In my experience, P. spicerianum generally blooms with one, sometimes two blooms per spike and that's it. To quote Cash in her book "The Slipper Orchids", "The inflorescence bears a solitary flower, except in the case of certain clones which consistently produce bifloral scapes."

Enjoy it anyway, it's very cute with an interesting pattern of colors.

I surely hope to enjoy it for years, even if it has just one bloom per spike. I know one day I'll have a multi flowering paph.
In fact, I also bought a Paphiopedilum dianthum at the show and this one is a multi flowering paph.
