How to care for multi-growth paphs.
Default How to care for multi-growth paphs.

Some of my paphs are growing many fans and they look very crowded.
For those of your longtime paph growers, do I just leave them alone or do I need to help them out somehow?

I'm afraid being crowd might make them more susceptible to crown rot or other disease or pest?

Please share your information!

Thanks in advance.

That's a good problem to have! I've found you really need to pot according to the root mass. If the roots are in too much media, it tends not to dry out evenly and you wind up with too dry or rotted roots. If you need a bigger pot size for the plant mass you might try a wider pot and fill the bottom of the pot with rocks, an inverted net pot, or styrofoam peanuts. That way the roots will be in just the right amount of media.

Great advice from Bill
Many of my paphs are bunchie, it really hasn't caused any extra problems.
Also if you don't already have one - you could try adding a fan for some air flow.
