is also starting to grow a sheath. I just discovered it watching it carefully. I still have it outside. When would it be a good moment to take it back inside (the one with the almost opened bloom is inside. I don't want any creep to eat the bud).
I would think about taking it in when your temps go below 55 F. My paphs sometimes are in 45-50 F in the dead of winter at night, but I take the ones in bud or bloom into the warmer parts of the house.
The bud is opening slowly. Man, how do orchids teach us patience. I first saw the sheath peeping out of between the leaves on july 20, so more than two months ago. I wonder how long it will still take her to fully open the bloom.
It seems like ages, but it has finally opened. I'm not sure if it will open more or not.
The facts is, that the bloom is much higher over the leafs than the first blooms it had when I bought her. Any idea on what cross this might be? Not that it really matters.
And I'm sooo jealous that the spike grew so fast and the flower opened so quickly for you. I've had a Paph. wardii in the process of opening its first flower for almost a month now, as in; just opening the darn flower! I've thought on so many occasions now that the bud has blasted, that I'm almost shocked it hasn't.
