Anyone has seen this kind of growth on paph?
This is Paph. Supersuk × Hsinying Web. It has six new fans, but about half of them are 'standing up'.
All my other paphs stay pretty flat but this one shows an odd growth habit. I wonder if it's because the plant has many growth tightly packed in together and this is a way of trying to get more light.

could be. I've been growing this one under LED. Maybe this particular paph needs stronger light as all other paphs under the same light is doing fine, even flowering.
I just moved it towards natural light. will see how it goes.
Thanks!

My P. sukhakulii alba has the "standing-up" type growth, and it has only 1 growth. Another P. sukhakulii doesn't show this growth pattern in the same condition. So maybe yours inherited the habit of some P. sukhakulii?

Thank you for your input. That could well be the case because my plant is a speciemn size and only two of the six new growths are 'standing up' and showing stems that I've never seen in paphs.

My sukhakulii also has a more upright growth pattern. I like them that way.....allows for more room on the shelf!

This characteristic can show up in a variety of Barbata section species and hybrids. It can even be much more pronounced than the pic shows in your plants, with visible internodes and often the beginnings of a root at each node. It may be an adaptation to allow the plant to elevate itself in rapidly accumulating leaf litter.
It is natural and normal for some plants, but soggy media, low light and crowding can promote it, so check that the media is in good condition and the roots are healthy. Repot if there is any question, and always repots Paphs at least once a year. Carefully increasing light may help limit it too.

Oh, thank you for the great insight.
My picture is not a good one and the paph actually does show internodes. No roots growing out yet. then it will look like corn stalk!
It is growing fresh media so I think all is well inside the pot. It is now out of the LED setup and next to window. a little bit afternoon sun. it's been a few days but seem to be fine as no sun cooked spots are developing.

oh, wow~
What happened to all those roots by the way? all black.
It is odd! Yours looks like it stood up above the ground and resume the normal growth.
Mine shows internodes between leaves.
