Paph Sanderianum Culture?
Hi! I'm super-excited to have finally gotten my hands on a Paph Sanderianum (it's been on my wish list forever!) I want to do right by this amazing plant, but I'm not sure if it needs anything special, or if can be grown in the same light/conditions as my other paphs.
The paphs I've grown in the past have been mostly Maudiae-influenced hybrids.
Does the Sanderianum need more light than those? Do I need to move this one closer to the window since it's multi-floral?
I'm only asking because I think I remember reading somewhere that multi-florals and sequential bloomers need higher light levels, since they need more energy to produce multiple blooms.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I don't have any sanderianum either, but my understanding is they want less light than most strap leaf multis can take. If your Maudies do well, that should be enough light for a sandie. I've been tempted to get one but the price of a good size plant scares me off.
Here's some culture info from OrchidWeb, they are usually right on.
Orchid of the Week Library: Paph. sanderianum
Post a picture of it please.

Good info! I just bought one and have it with my Paph's in general. It's still fairly young though as the longest leaf is about 9 inches or so. This will help a lot! Thanks for sharing the links!

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm going to be getting a previously bloomed sanderianum with two growths for $125.

Oh wow! This is fascinating stuff! I was absolutely glued to that pdf article! I'm really excited about my sandie!
I'm sorry it took me so long to thank all of you for your help...my email was delinquent in telling me anyone had responded to the thread! I just found out this morning there were replies!
At any rate, my sandie is neighboring a Paph Catherine Cash and a Paph Pinocchio, and it seems to be quite happy in its spot. I'm pretty sure it will be a while before it flowers...it only has the one growth so far, but it is enthusiastically putting out new leaves, so that's a good sign!
I will try to get around to posting a pic...although it's not very interesting at the moment...just a bunch of leaves in a pot... LOL...
Thanks for all of your help, everyone! Hopefully we'll have some gorgeous sandie pics to share with each other in a couple of years!

I have just ordered one today from Ten Shin orchids!! It is only 10cm long so I guess that I will be able to see my as yet unborn children through college before I'll get to see it bloom but it will be nice to know that I have one anyway. Good luck with yours GGW!
